Givenchy Nightingale IT bag

The 'it' bag of 2007 some might say. This is the Givenchy Nightingale bag, still being seen about town.

The shoulder strap as well as the grab handles make this a really versatile construction. The signature detailing of the handle base shape make it recognisable. As an 'it' bag, i think its a timeless piece worthy of the title.

BAGALICIOUS, Lulu Guinness

Lulu Guinness at her finest hour. I love this bag. Its a bit of retro mixed with a bit of DIY. The frame bag construction with the tonal front pockets are quirky yet subtle, a perfect balance.

Knog cycling bags

Knog, the aussie brand specialises in cycling gear and their couriers and messengers are the talk of the town. Their website is also very slick with a very strong brand identity. Watch out Crumpler, you have a new kid on the block. www.knog.com.au

With a distinctive crumpler look, the bags are not the most original in the market but i think there is enough room for another slick aussie brand that uses a great combination of materials and colours in the cycling market.

Bill Amberg 'Gun' pouch

Bill Amberg is all about using amazing materials in simple, elegant constructions and this 'gun' pouch is no exception. Its a beautiful money pouch or 'bum bag' made in great quality cow hyde

I can see it being worn over an oversized t-shirt dress as a belt, a modern day bum bag.

Pucci Patchwork bags Spring/Summer 2009

The patchwork range by Pucci Spring / Summer 2009/10 are colourful modern interpretations of patchwork.

They create a graphic print within the basic construction of the bag, the result is slighly vintage with a thoroughly modern interpretation.

With a tonal treatment or multicoloured approach, the bags can do no wrong.

Raf Simons Eastpak collaboration SS09

Spring Summer 2009 is the third season for the Raf Simons / Eastpak collaboration. The collaboration has proved a huge success and the stories keep getting stronger and the bags sexier each season.

The inspiration is haute travel, its a futuristic, modern approach to the romance of old fashioned travelling.

The story comes through clearly in the leather detailing and touches such as the luggage tag and use of metallic leathers.

The bag styles are modern interpretations of old fashioned styles. Backpacks remain slouchy but keep details such as buckes and traditionally cut leather.

I had a sneak peak at the spring summer collection at Bread and Butter this year and took some extra shots of the detailing. The mirror effect leather compliments the the navy blue thick canvas on this oversized hobo.

The styles are also all unisex which also compliments eastpak's brand.

The denim works in with the natural belting leather on this slouchy backpack.

Eastpak's sporty heritage comes out with the use of mesh which adds a futuristic and modern edge to this travel bag with traditionally shaped handles.

Mens backpacks

The trend towards mens fashion backpacks is still bubbling away. Separate from the performance or sports backpacks which will always be a staple in an active man's wardrobe, leather, slouchy and styles with more fashionable detailing are being seen more and more on the streets.

Here are a few shots to inspire.

Kick started by the 'geek chic' trend, worn on both shoulders = better.

Worn on one shoulder = not quite committing to the backpack thing!

Marc Jacobs Stam Bag

Marc Jacobs Stam bag, named after model Jessica Stam was first seen on the New York catwalks in Autumn / winter 2005/6. Was the 'it' bag of the season the following year.

Available in a range of colours and materials, most iconically known for its quilted leather construction and heavy gold chain shoulder strap.

With its frame construction in clutch style, it has a really versatile look and is wearable by a huge range of women.

Billy Bag at PURE, London

I went to the PURE tradeshow in London this week and saw a sneak peak at Billy Bag's coming collection for Spring summer 2009.

The dark wooden frame in combination with the ethnic inspired print really works to create a modern hippy look.

I think of knitting needles when i see this bag. Its an evening bag with a twist.

This faded printed hobo makes a real impact, it looks like it has been left in a puddle but is part of the placement print. I think it really works.

Billy Bag Clutch

I went to the PURE tradeshow in London this week and saw a sneak peak at Billy Bag's coming collection for Spring summer 2009.

This gorgeous little clutch is so simple, but sophisticated and has the fun element with the ceremic hanging cherry-like adornments.

This is the back of the clutch / purse. Here is Billy Bags site, where you can see some more of their lovely bags.

Kate Spade bags

Kate Spade Laminated wash bag series. Girly, but not too girly.

I like the branding badges on this bag, but have a distinct 'Coach' look about them. Not sure about this shape but love the elongated clutch bag.
