LEATHER CAMERA CASE

First day back after a lovely alpine adventure snowboarding in Andorra... But in the bag department i have another vintage find from my favourite place of the moment - Etsy. This top loading camera case looks like it has just stepped out of the 70s. The simplistic boxy shape and and basic front pocket detail is v nice.

With a bit of contrast stitch action, the bag also has a bit of a country vintage feel to it. Whilst it looks like its made out of vinyl rather than leather, i still give the construction and detailing of this bag top points.


Note the piping detail around the edges of the main bag and shiny brown body material.

ART DECO DANCE PURSES

I came across these little beauties on etsy.com, the are just divine. Word has it that they are 'dance purses' worn by 'ladies' (the little britain type) when going to dances. I wonder whether they were hand held or worn around the neck?


Some of the more detailed images show what was inside these things. Inside are two little compartments for 'powder' of whatever your inclination is... or some flat make-up varieties.


This one below is from another etsy seller which is also made from sterling silver and a similar design. The interior details are amazing, it also has a little compact mirror inside.



One of the things i particularly like and am inspired by with these is the chain. so delicate and i really love the elongated links.


With an external monogram, and beautiful angled edges, i find this piece really inspirational for the design of phone cases for the modern world.

MY EBAY BAGS

Here are some pictures of the bags that i am ebaying at the moment. I am trying to raise enough money for my bloody maintenance payments on my flat. Every 6 months i completely forget about it and then BANG! it hits me just before christmas. Boo Hoo. Bye bye lovely bags.

This bag by Andrea Crews is slightly nuts, I love it. It is maybe not even a bag, but i find it very intriguing and creative. I think its really inspiring.

POLKA DOT BAGS

I just love polka dots. They are geometric, perfectly round and repeated in the most elegant understated way. Just like mini-mouse, they are timeless and ageless. These are some of the polka dotted accessories that have been around recently from Commes Des Garcons (wallets) to Luella (shopper). Not to mention the Japanese Cult brand Porter - whose sub brand 'Head Porter' has this cute little digital camera case.

I PHONE CASES

For people who drop their phones all the time, this might be the right thing for you. Its made from brass or aluminium with very manly cut-outs, it will keep your phone very safe. It reminds me of what a black box in a plane might look like if i ever saw one.

HIPPY CHIC SPRING/SUMMER 2010

Going over the catwalks from the past season, spring/summer 2010, i noticed alot of really soft femine and colourful bags coming through and wanted to share a few of my favourites with you.
We are seeing prints in soft colours with hazy edges, clashing and contrasting prints on the same bag, some tribal geometric prints and designs and overall rounder shapes with highly feminine vibes.

Overall, we are seeing lots of circlar motifs, such as on the Bottega Venetta as well as circular patterns on the tourquoise paul and joe bag i have shown. Versace and Ashish also presented bags with quite round constructions as well.

WOODEN BAGS

Caroline Jarvis from Central Saint Martins graduating year 2009 has designed these wooden bags. They look like bird houses.


Come out little birdy

This one is also a rectangular wooden bag / backpack with a frypan stuck to it, but somehow it looks more like a kitchen cupboard gone walkies than a stylish avant garde bag. I am starting to think that catwalks are a place to make ridiculous things look fashionable.


I still love the use of strange materials in bags.

AVANT GARDE BAGS

Here are a couple of random photos of some interesting bags... worn in some pretty interesting ways around the neck. This one below is made from two sections joined together by chain and slung around the neck.


This one here, i'm not sure whether it is actually a bag or just a neck piece. There is a definite relationship between the two. The new way to carry stuff is definitely draped around the neck, i find these pieces really inspirational and new.

VINTAGE GUCCI SHOPPER

This vintage Gucci shopper caught my eye. The understated tonal body fabric against the worn leather is lovely, like sitting on a big comfy couch in front of a fire on a rainy dark windy day.
