The Mobo (mans hobo)

In line with a move towards a more unisex feel, the mobo (male hobo) is going to be big this season with mens and women's shapes merging. Its a cross body format often with additional grab handles. Soft, floppy construction worn by men and women. Can also just be worn over one shoulder sometimes with an adjustable shoulder strap.

Fashion designer Gaspard Yurkievich has teamed up with French retailer La Bagagerie to launch a collection of bags, luggage and clothing called BAGGY.

Crumpler Backpacks

Crumpler bags with their humble aussie roots have come a long way since their original camera case collections. Now they really own the messenger market for city bankers aiming for a cool look or someone looking for a good quality functional bag. I love crumpler don't get me wrong, but it seems a shame that they have attracted a very mainstream audience.

Although i'm sure crumpler wouldn't have any problem with that since they have managed to grow from strength to strength. Their bags are very well structured, cleverly designed with alot of thought put into the pattern cutting. Crumpler designers are no.1 in thinking about bags from a tayloring angle.

With a clean and stripped down look, this backpack would not look wrong on the back of a suit or on someone climbing a mountain. My only critique of crumpler bags is sometimes i think they are a little too well made, to the point that they can be overly heavy and over padded for their purpose which at the same time make them very safe and sturdy for all your gear.

Overall its a thumbs up for Crumpler... and thats not only because i'm australian!

This backpack style satchel bag isn't exactly ergonomic, but when it comes to style, its a classic.

Leather Satchel Bags from Ebay

Here are a collection of leather satchel bags found on ebay. A wide variety of different shapes and sizes featuring lots of different types of buckles and straps.

I found these really inspirational.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Pulp

Louis Vuitton has gone slightly street with their monogram pulp bag which looks to have layers of paint/print built up using masking and mixing up their signature logos.

This bag certainly challenges the middle class perception of this brand and its great to see that they are doing some more interesting stuff. But a company like louis vui can definitely afford to play around.

A close up look of the graphic application as seen on an ad in Numero Magazine no. 91

Definitely looks much better in the campaign shot than on the sales website!

kaviar gauche bag

i love this bag.

John Galliano Autumn/winter 2008/9

I am really feeling men's bags at the moment, these bags are hot off John Galliano's autumn/winter 2008/09 catwalks in Paris. They are rough and tough and very masculine. This is a returning trend - the ultra-masculine, coming through both in mens and women's fashion.

The leathers are dry and textured with imperfections. The colours are tough and the cuts of the bag look like they have been made by cavemen. (as do the models)

Raw edges and torn finishes with roughly placed studs and buttons make the look raw and wild.

This elongated messenger looks like it has a sheep skin interior lining worn across the body either at the front or back. The hardware has a hammered brushed finish and looks like it could have come from an old gate.
