CLAIRE VIVIER

These are Claire Vivier's iphone pouches. I just love them.

Made from delicate suede with gold hardware, they are so romantic and have a definite vintage feel, but with the mod cons.

Lovelovelove this product. Its only US$135 which i think is damned good for such a beautiful piece. You can check out more of her stuff on http://seevivier.com

70s STYLE HANDBAGS: THE SUMMER OF LOVE

KARL WHO: CANVAS BAG

From Paris fashion week, i really love this bag. Total fashion whore look, but it rocks.

Low fi fashion... does this signal the end of the ridiculously expensive 'it' bag?

ACCORDIAN STYLE WALLETS

I have come across some very cleverly constructed wallets / purses lately. There seems to be a real feel for functionality in the air at the moment. And i think these are quite inventive and clever and focus on construction.

This one is from a vintage archive. I love the ultra thin leather string which pulls tight in mini gatherings formed by the rough concertina action.

This one above is equally as clever with its simple folding action and hardly any seams or sewing going on. Its by FRRY (i can't pronounce this brand for the life of me). It is a dutch company that i saw exhibiting a couple of weeks ago in Paris at Premiere Classe. This is their website : www.frrry.com. All of their products are seriously cleverly constructed.

FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART...

This image doesn't really need a caption.

Its a love-hate relationship.

PARIS STREET SHOT

This is a photo taken in paris during fashion week a few weeks ago. It looks like a delicate business card holder, but i think its inspiration for a whole new genre of products. I love it.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN PURSE

I have been away in italy lusting over leathers at Lineapelle in Bologna. I saw some truly inspirational stuff. I might even post some of my favourite pics here in the next few days. In the mean time this is a gorgeous little purse by Christian Louboutin. Just adoreable.

JAPANESE WOODEN BAGS

As per usual, i left these images on my desktop for too long and now i have no idea where they came from... aside from that they were taken by a colleague of mine in Japan... so i'm calling them Japanese wooden bags.

They are pretty nutty and slightly architect (my derogatory term for 'over-designed')

... and slightly unuseable. I do think they they are great but i feel sometimes some designers design things for museums and art galleries more so than for real people.

I'm in a slightly off mood today so everything seems to look a bit try-hard.

Oh, just found the info on this brand : http://www.monacca.com/

Maison Martin Margiela Autumn/winter 2010/11

From the Paris catwalks come these images. I love Margiela so much its just not funny.
These simple square cardboard box style 'bags' are from their (i say their as margiela doesn't actually work there anymore ..boo.) latest autumn/winter collection.

Margiela never fails to push out the fashion boundaries... maybe not the type of bag that you would find on the shelves of topshop but designed to inspire... and they always do.

I love that Margiela is always about silhouette and whether it be in the clothing or in the shape of their accessories, they always make you think about things differently.

Powdery white boxes which do 'what they say on the tin'.. ie carry stuff.... back to basics, back to the icons and the original concepts.

I could talk shit about Margiela all day, so i'll stop here... suffice to say, it rocks!

ORNJ BAGS: ROADSIDE BARRICADE BAGS

These summery basket bags by ORNJ are handmade by Detroit-based artist and designer David Shock.

They are made of reused construction fencing, salvaged from abandoned fields and work sites.

You can buy them through their etsy shop here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/davidshockdesigns
and find out more information about them on their little website: www.ornjbags.com

I think they are elegant and decorative and not so much about recycling as they are about clever design.

JAS MB AT TRANOI FEMME PARIS

Bonjour, I just got back from Paris and the hustle of Fashion week where i checked out Premiere Classe and Tranoi Femme tradeshows. There was some absolutely fantastique stuff on show.

One of my favourite brands of all time is Jas M.B. Jas was at the show and I was even tempted to make a little personal order myself - which is this amazing 'Camera Case' cross shoulder mini handbag that you see above. I can't wait to receive it!

The brand has done some amazingly cool backpacks which are really lifestyle inspired and also pretty for what its worth.

This double strapped backpack is satchel inspired with the long leather straps and classic detailing.

In classic Jas M.B styling, this tote made from a coated canvas is accented with leather details.

The quality of leather is just to die for, take this, for example, clutch with removeable shoulder strap made from large grain leather. Pure luxury. I am really loving the simple shapes coming out right now with minimal hardware.

And for a little bit more bling, Jas M.B has done these tote bags with a very geometrical array of 'diamond' studded bolts.

I absolutely love the understated-ness of this brand. Minimal branding, minimal bling. Made in the UK and just good old fashioned fashion.

WOODEN IPHONE CASES

I have been seeing SO much wood around lately... these iphone cases, eyewear, faux wood prints, footwear... aghhh, i'm almost sick of it... but not quite. These cases are from Brook Farm General Store. They have some nice stuff there.

They are made by a company called Vers based in Massachusetts and retail for US$39.99.

I like em, but they are slightly 'architect-y' style-y.

But a nice idea and nicely done yeah.

I apologise to architects out there for sterotyping, but if you own dark rimmed glasses or a black roll neck sweater... you know who i'm talkin about.
