VEGETABLE BAGS
I have been inspired by bags designed or created for specific purposes. Just like camera cases and mobile phone bases, this is bag deigned for vegetables. Its designer accessories for the fridge.

This is the ideal replacement for all those plastic bags that get wasted and thrown away. The mesh construction allows the vegetables to breath but more importantly you can see the contents without having to open the bag. This would be the perfect accessory for my brand new fridge.

Baggu do some excellent bags, check out their website: http://baggubag.com they are so cute and to me represent the uniqlo or american apparel of the bag world.

FRUIT BAGS
Hermes have designed this extremely cute apple bag. Its sort of so bad that it is good. Actually, its not really bad at all. Just funny that you could carry something as simple as an apple around in something worth so much money!

Although, it is does seem a little unnecessary, its definitely cute, inventive and backs this up coming trend of quirky little bags for the party season.

And here is the famous Banana Guard, the predecessor of the Hermes apple bag. As silly as this might seem its really not a bad idea at all. These cases elevate the status of the humble fruit, a sort of back to basic reminder. I also love the idea of cases that protect specific things such as sunglasses cases and instrument cases, check out my 'case' tag on the right hand column.
If anyone find any more fruit style bags, please send them my way!

STUDIO TOOGOOD
These bags are from Studio toogood, creative consultancy... its the kind of place that does, in my book, truly creative work. Everything on their site, i just stare at for ages... i don't even know where to start with these bags.

They are an eclectic collection of odd camera and lens cases, fixed up and lined with a futuristic gold lining fabric. Little straps have been added here and there, but overall they retain their gorgeous vintage feel.

Both the bags themselves and the installation / display which was part of London design week last year, are just sublime... the type of thing i wish i was involved in.

The bags look like archaeological artifacts dug up for display at a science convention...

Coupled with the modest, humble surrounds and the stark white walls, the bags are given individual personalities. Hanging from little hooks ready to be plucked by the lucky new owners.

LIBERTY SUITCASE HANDBAG
The Liberty collaboration with Merci store in Paris was very cool. Here is one of the little suitcase style bags that resulted. It is the perfect marriage i think- beautiful graphic print in soft cotton coupled with a classic 'globetrotter' style case with wood details.

The price was really great too, i think it was less than £30 or something like that. The Merci store is definitely worth a visit... or 10. I go there every time i go to paris, and i get slightly lost getting there every time too.

VINTAGE CAMERA CASES
I have a thing for bags made for specific purposes like camera bags, sports equipment bags and other specifically shaped bags which allude to their contents regardless of whether its in there or not. There are a lot of camera cases from this vintage region, i'm not too hot on history but i would take a stab at the 60s moving into the 70s when SLR cameras were at their heyday. I vaguely remember my mum's camera case.

I think it gets more interesting when you look at the more modern takes on this item. Marc Jacobs (below) has designed this camera case which sort of looks 70s style but was probably designed within the last couple of seasons. I am trying to research camera bags like this which have been designed more recently but which have strong visual links to the 70s.

CALUMET PHOTOGRAPHY SHOP NEW YORK
This is a little camera case I bought last week in new York from a fab
shop that does every kind of photographic equipment you could ever need.
I am also attempting mobile blogging for the first time from my trusty iphone, so expect more 'on the run' entries in the weeks to come before i get completely jacked off with typing on tiny buttons.

Leica Camera Cases
I love these Lieca camera cases made from structured leather and hugging around the body of the camera. Cases in general really excite me, bags that are made for one specific item only. It reminds me of this earlier blog posting: jack spade table tennis case.

Sexy SPORTS equipment bags
Jack Spade's Ping Pong bag. I love it. This bag is clunky-sexy, its simple, honest, does what it says on the tin. Its waxy beautiful body material and stuck on label ooze sophistication through simplicity.

I want one of these really badly and i'm prepared to take up table tennis for it. Its by Jack Spade.
If you like this check out the Leica camera cases on a previous posting.
