ILLUSTRATOR COMPONENTS FOR DRAWING BAGS

As i have been designing bags for quite a while i have built up a massive library of bits and pieces that i have created in illustrator. Just thought i might share them with any other people who might be interested.

Here are a few clips / dog clips - the kind of hardware that come in handy for straps and buckles.

Just a few of the many many zip pulls that i have drawn. Unfortunately they are drawn straight on but i have lots drawn at wierd wonky angles as well.

And here are some of my lovely brushes. Zips and chains are my favourite. I can get quite obsessed with getting these right. Above, we have metal zips, plastic zips, nylon zips, a couple of varieties of chain including ball chain.

I can't quite figure out yet how to download here the illustrator document containing these brushes and components. So please bare with me. Otherwise if you want them in the meantime, just email me and i will send them to you.

MUMS CHANEL HANDBAG

When i was last home in Australia in june, i subtly raided my mum's wardrobe looking for those designer handbags that i vaguely remembered.

This one was probably bought in the 80s or early 90s and mum so kindly let me borrow it, or gave it to me. Luckily i have no sisters to contest this, as it is a highly sort after Chanel classic which i love and cherish.

I only use it on special occasions, but i am not so good at keeping things in mint condition. i don't suppose hanging it behind my door with a thousand other pieces of junk and bags is all that good for it, but storage space in my tiny place in london has a lot to be desired. If anyone has any good bag storing tips, please share.

jacqui satchel

This is a satchel bag / shopper that turns into a backpack, i made it with my very own little hands a few weekends ago. It was a bit of an experimental number which i hope to get made in some better materials when i get some funds and motivation together.

The photos are taken outside my place at London fields on the day when i got locked out of my house a few weeks ago. I remember cos there was nothing else to do whilst i was waiting for morgan to come home than to take a few photos of this bag i just made.

The straps come off from being backpacks and transform the bag into a shopper.

With a little help from the old press stud it all works together.

Doors Jas M.B

I just bought a new bag. Thats a big deal for me as I find it hard to find the right one, being obsessed and surrounded by them all the time.

My bag of choice was a Jas M.B small 'wings' which is hard to describe any other way but beautiful. Its made from solid quality leather, unfussy, honest in construction and unpretentious in logo branding.

Find out more about this much loved brand and Jas M.B on their website www.doorsbyjasmb.com

Each bag seems slightly different and take on the characteristics of the individual leather skin they are made from. The branding is hardly visible and the bag ages with use as it should.

The bags are versatile both in their image (what outfits you can wear them with) as well as function. Mine has 3 different ways of holding it - shoulder strap, grab handles and short shoulder strap and i do actually use all three of them.

Ella's favourite bag

This is my friend Ella's favourite bag. She sent me this image to add to my bag blog. This a description of this bag in her very own words....

"thought you might be interested in my favourite bag....It's made from coloured felt balls. The felt is so thick that it makes it hard to fit anything in. Despite this unpractical design, I love it. I like to wear it with a black outfit and red shoes to show it off, like a nice piece of jewelery."

Please send me a photo of your favourite with a description of what you love about it. And if you have a bag you find irritating, send a pic too with a caption of what you find annoying, irritating or non-functional about it and i will publish it right here in the 'My Bag' category.

Looking forward to your submissions!
