Tetris Bag
I love the assymetry of this little piece and trust the Japanese to design it with such refined style. I even really like how its slightly slouchy in construction. Its not cheap though, at US$165, you can get your hands on it at Creatures of Comfort.

GIVENCHY
Its all about Givenchy at the moment, but fair play they have come up with this amazingly cute, simple gorgeous hand bag called the Pandora. A few years ago people would have laughed at this bag, now everyone wants to get it. Note the minimal hardware, odd, assymmetric construction and very simple classic branding. Less is more.

TRIANGLE AND PATCHED

I like small triangle bags. This one is made from patches in leather that reminds me of the 1970s. Its modern and vintage at the same time.

NATALIA BRILLI
She has designed everything from laptop cases to jewellery and covered a drum set in leather. I love her stuff, her name is Natalia Brilli and she is a Belgium designer. It is not often you come across a designer who has such a specific claim to fame / MO, but still manages to have so much variety and newness in her work. I came across her a few years ago, but still love her stuff as much as i did then.

Her stuff is quirky and playful, clever and sexy at the same time. Its like a small obsession she has not unlike me and tape (http://ilovestickytape.blogspot.com/) but has managed to make an international brand out of it.

The embossed objects which seem to sit below the surface of the black leather give clues as to what is enclosed, and take full advantage of the beautiful properties of leather.

All her pieces are hand made in Paris and i am continuously inspired by her evolving style and collections.

70s MACRAME
Here is a selection of macrame and jute bags mostly from the 70s. I was doing a little bit of research on woven bags and elastic and came across these on etsy. Don't you just love that site?!

I was extremely tempted to purchase this one which was going for just US$26, but really, do i need another bag? No!

I just love the neat rows of macrame that make up this bag and the contrast of the wood handle with the crafty feel of the main body of the bag. I also love the colours - just off whites which are so summery and fresh.

The slight deco patterning which adds a bit of subtle embellishment to the pattern.

The range of patterns and styles are just endless, and these are just a few of the images i found when i searched "macrame bag" on etsy. I wish i could do macrame, although mine would end up in a different category altogether. Perhaps experimental macrame or something like that.
My obsession with macrame continues on this previous post... http://anotherbagblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/macrame-and-stringy-bags.html

CAMERA BAG KATE SPADE
A very cute little bag by Kate Spade called Pocomo. It has a SLR camera embossed onto the front flap. Its a little different to lots of Kate Spade's other bags, but probably one of my favourites.

I love the combination of the boxy-ness and the tan colour with the simple outline of the camera.

A beauty of the moment. But comes at quite a price at $225, you can check it out here: http://www.katespade.com

TO SHEARLING OR NOT TO SHEARLING?
It was always a bit of a question mark as to whether shearling / sheepskin would take off in the world of accessories.

Personally, i don't mind these two bags, the above one looks like a little sheep with handles and the bottom Celine one is actually quite cute.

I think it comes down to a question of function. Shearling on the outside of anything whether it be clothes or shoes seems a bit wierd to begin with seeing it is associated with keeping things warm and snuggly. In addition, sherling on bags is slightly wierd seeing there is no particular need for keeping say, your keys or wallet warm.
Make your own mind up, what do you think? To shearling or not to shearling?

THE FORMAL BUM BAG
So we've had the sporty bum bag and here is the formal bum bag - characterized primarily by the oh-so-sophisticated use of material - namely snakeskin.

I predict the snakeskin / sporty combination as the next big thing in bum bags /fanny packs. They are already fairly dorkus so why not go the whole hog.

Combined with a floral shirt... apparently anything goes.

And all you designers out there- if you are not sure whether you choice in snakeskin is formal enough, just add a bow tie.

FLAT RED BAG
I just found this bag on etsy, I like its simplicity and straight-forwardness. It reminds me of a bag i had when i was a little girl. I also like how it is photographed. If you want to buy it, it might still be on etsy, seller id: GardenourLeather

WITHNAIL AND I INSPIRED BAGS
Inspired by the cult movie - Withnail and I, i did a bit of bag research. I describe the look as disheveled bourgeois or ramshackle. The movie is about a couple of want to be thespians out of work living in squalor in camden. They decide to go on a weekend away to uncle Monty's holiday cottage in the countryside where their domestic abilties are even more tragically hilarious.

The slightly shiny leather on this bag coupled with the 70s style lock makes it a very nice understated business bag. Found on etsy.com

Scratched leather frame bag. Adult version of a very serious school bag.

Hartmann travel bag, i imagine this is quite 70s.

I think this is a music bag - a sort of opening leather portfolio.
