Polyvore Addiction
Oh my god i have just discovered POLYVORE, i stumbled upon this strange yellow object assemblage and wondered what the hell it was! I'm still not really sure but you seem to be able to drag and drop your own images from thousands of web images to a lightbox area and create your own collages in a matter of minutes. The yellow one above seems to be one that someone had created earlier.
So here is my attempt at a RED BAG POLYVORE.
You seriously have to go there and make your own, its loads of fun. http://www.polyvore.com

Stella McCartney and LeSportsac
Stella McCartney has teamed up with LeSportsac to create a range of bags that have a distinct baby-ish feel possibly influenced by her own motherhood experience. Theres loads of different styles and shapes and in true LeSportsac style, the shapes are very commerical. However, I always ask the same question when it comes to mummy bags - why do they look so baby-ish when its normally a grown mum or dad carrying it?
Cute that is comes with a matching soft toy and hats off to the orange / slate colourway which is a little less babyish but still merchandises well with the prints.
Despite the ridiculously low cost body fabric used in LeSportsac, the bags actually seem pretty resiliant, so i imagine they are making their customers happy as well as making a killer margin.

Magazine Clutch Bag
I snapped this magazine clutch bag at Fenwicks on Bond Street, i'd never seen anything like it before. Its a hardshell with a magazine printed on it and a leather strap with magnetic closure. Very vintage and kitsch but in a good way i think.
From my little bit of research i just did on the internet it looks like these are quite little collectors items, so all those vintage freaks out there looking for one, get yourselves down to femwicks, sorry i didn't catch how much they were.

Alexander McQueen Skull Clutch
Check out this McQueen skull clasp clutch bag -very Damian Hirst! I took this photo in Selfridges last week. I think the silver skull works better than the gold one, but generally this little clutch is very drool-worthy.
A must-have for every bad girl.
The eyes and teeth are made from Swarovski crystals, personally i think they should be real diamonds, but i guess sometimes concessions need to be made for commerciality, at a breezy £465, you could get both the black and the silver!

Diesel Wallet Purse Clutch type thing
I can't work out whether this Diesel number is a wallet, purse, clutch or what. I suppose it is a hybrid construction that seems to work really well as an oversized wallet, but you can also fit a phone inside and because of its soft folding construction it is pretty versatile.
Apparently you can pick them up in the states for a good price, but i've never seen one in the shops in london.

Matthew Williamson bags at the Design Museum
It was worth the trek to the Design Museum to see these gorgeous bags by Matthew Williamson. The exhibition is extremely well curated and despite the fashion frock angle there were even bags to look at for me.
These beaded beauties go perfectly with his outfits. They are like little treasures in themselves and really give meaning to word 'accessory' when describing bags.
The colours of the stones go so well together, it sort of reminds me of peaking in your mum's jewellery box when you were a little kid.
If i were to take this one out with me for the night i would fill it with pound coins and prance around town with my clinking little sack. You have to go to the Design Museum and check them out for yourself, you will not be disappointed.
Its a contentious one, but i think its great that his designs have been made accessible through his collaboration with Designers at Debenhams. I really believe that the intention and spirit of Williamson's design has not been lost in translation.

tokidoki for LeSportsac
Tokidoki does graphics for cult bag brand LeSportsac. What a match made in heaven! This black and white colourway with natural leather trim is so hot i can hardly contain myself. I'm not so sure about the other multi-coloured colourways but this one really works don't you think?
The best thing about this collaboration is that it fits perfectly with both parties. The cartoon style of graphics lends itself so perfectly to the simple iconic shapes and rip stop nylon construction LeSportsac is so well known for.
Personally, I have never been tempted to invest in a LeSportsac but i can see myself coming around... even if its just to add to the ever expanding pile of bags in my bag corner.
Aside from the fantastic graphic on the fabric, I love how LeSportsac has made an effort to compliment the graphic with the seriously cool multi-coloured metal zip track. I can't think of many bags that can actually pull this off. Respect.

Bag Customisation
Anya Hindmarch - 'Be a Bag' range where you send your snap in and have it be transformed onto a bag.
On the other end of the spectrum Timbuk2 are doing a very decent job of the customisation market. You can build your messenger to your very own spec. The prices are really competitive, only slightly more than what you would pay for one off the shelf. Have a go of it yourself here.
On the far other end of the spectrum since the beginning of time Louis Vuitton have offered a personalisation service where you can get your initials or family monogram printed directly onto your travel trunk. However, the price tag might be slightly higher than a timbuk2 messenger.
Freddy& Ma allow your design your own handbag by selecting from a wide range of fabrics - neat site too. While you are there you can design a matching cushion too.
Mulberry and Julie Verhoeven
Mulberry has teamed up with artist Julie Verhoeven on both apparel and accessories. And purely judging from their bags, i dare to say it looks like a marriage made in hell. The apparel seems to work a treat but the shopper bag with the stuck on graphic looks like a bit of an afterthought - a disasterous encounter between Chanel and Lulu Guinness in an asda aisle.
In the past Mulberry have had some wicked collaborations like with Giles Deacon in SS07 where Mulberry's S&M direction was truly sexy and edgy. I am totally open to disagreement, please post your comments here! So, sorry Julie Verhoeven and Mulberry but this one has to go in my irritating bag section.
Please! Honestly?
I know its going out on a limb to say i don't rate this bag given that its been getting so much great press, but lets just say it as it is here. All i can say is that i'm waiting in anticipation for Mulberry's next collab.
