Rootphi and Timbuk2 Collaboration - Lamitron

As reported on the Cool Hunter website, RootPhi is currently working with Timbuk2, a San Francisco based messenger bag & accessories company, on a special project. Its all about using recycled materials in messenger bags. RootPhi has developed a recycled fabric called Reclaim. Made from polyethylene. It is an amazing technology which turns plastic bags into a strong durable fabric suitable for use in bags that get bashed around alot.

It is an amazing idea and a solid application of the technology. Timbuk2 who is very well known for their simple messenger bags that is all about the material, this is definitely a great colab idea and i can't wait to see more happening within this area.

One of the best things about this technology is that the process allows you to still be able to see the detail in the original material, visible recycling technology. Great work guys! Find out more about Rootphi at www.rootphi.net

After a bit more snooping around, i've found out that Target has put a 'cease and desist' order against Timbuk2 for showing the target bullseye logo on their recycled product. To be honest i can't believe that Target don't see this as an opportunity for them to get some good green publicity. This has caused Timbuk2 to to though in their words, "the ridiculous process of identifying and removing any Lamitron bag that contains the Target logo."

Ridiculous i would say. Target you are complete idiots and I think have drawn more negative publicity to yourselves by doing this.

See more info on this on Timbuk2's site here.

Puma Lydia bag by Lydia Hearst. See behind the scenes pics

Puma Lydia bag, worth £370, designed by Lydia Hearst with PUMA is this weeks Grazia Goodie bag give away. Check out some behind the scenes photos from the puma design laboratory.

Made from gold and browns and full of hanging bits, this bag is a re-vamp of an original puma tennis bag. The shape has largely remained unchanged but its been given the bling treatment to make it worthy for the catwalk.

This is a close up picture of the hanging crystal. I'm pretty sure they are Swarovski crystals.

And the 'diamond' studded cat which hangs down the front of the bag, this is super sized and features a mirror effect central section.

Here shows a photo of the back of the bag filled with patches of metallic snake skin leather, gold leather and bronze.

Here is the rock and roll colourway of the same bag, black, silver and reds. The main body fabric is patent leather.

I love the silky satin lining with the music graphic. Not quite sure what the idea behind it is, but it looks good and feels d-licious.

And contrary to popular belief, these botton cat stud feet are NOT made from pure silver, they are just regular metal. That would be pretty cool though but if that were the case i'm sure the bag wouldn't retail at £370.

Puma bag by Jacqui Ma

Good evening all. I ran out of inspiration for what bag to post today so thought i would stick up one of my earlier failures with puma. I'll leave you to decide for yourself. It was an early prototype for a new Lydia Hearst collaboration which got canned after most of the work was done.

White body with a couple of splashes of blue in the form of a 'waist belt' and highlighted zip track.

Very subtle Puma branding... in fact its just on the zip pulls and the applique cat logo on the base in body material.

I like the combo of mesh with PU (fake leather), the contrast is a real Puma thing.

I like it but i'm selling it right now to fund my retirement so check it out for yourself.

Belkin Laptop Pockets

These Belkin laptop carriers and ultra chic and ultra 'design' . Probably not the most practical laptop bags in the world but who cares when it looks as good as this. The laptop bag market is so full of boring black bags that i think there really is a market for these, especially for home or studio use.

This one is called Belkin Laptop Pockettop Case Orange and can you believe its going for a crazy £17.99 on Amazon right now, normally its something like £35.

This one, slightly less bulbous is still very chic and the colours really compliment the designs. Its Belkin Laptop Sleevetop Case Green.

Puma Handbag Dazzle

This bag was designed by yours truly, its a mini heritage style bag aimed at young girls, i'm not sure how much you'd fit in it or whether any of you young girls out there like it, or would buy it, but thought i'd put it up here for all to check out. Look forward to your comments.

The range is called Dazzle and its available in a range of colours... from Puma.

Diesel Polietilencia Bags AKA tyvek

These fab diesel bags are made from what diesel refer to as "Polietilenica" which sounds pretty technical, i have also heard it being called 'Tyvek', i guess it depends on who the manufacturer is. The material feels alot like paper but has really strong qualities and take alot more of a bashing that it seems. Diesel have used this material really cleverly using a graphic print on the bags making further reference to the paper-like qualities.

This one above is called 'Henry', not quite sure why. Have a closer look at these bags on http://store.diesel.com

These bags have a japanese feel about them with the typo-graphics, they tend not to be saying anything particularly relevant so for this reason i'm not sure whether i would actually invest in one personally but the idea is strong and i'm all for exploring new materials in accessory design.

This style is called "ARAKI" which is sort of a like a modern interpretation of a military style duffle bag. The use of the white chain works but i think it could have been a bit chunkier.
